An analysis of European rural background ozone trends 1996-2005. Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, Vol. 12, Issue 1, pp. 437-454. doi:10.5194/acp-12-437-2012

Findings of this paper are reported in The EU Referendum and the UK Environment: An Expert Review. This policy document reviewed the academic evidence on how EU membership has influenced UK environmental policies.

Methodology developed in this paper is used in the following policy report Hayes, E. et al. (2014) Services to assess the reasons for non-compliance of ozone target value set by Directive 2008/50/EC and potential for air quality improvement in relation to ozone pollution: Task 4-Assessment of the factors responsible for any projected non-compliance with air quality target values for ozone by the dates foreseen in the Directive 2008/50/EC.

This research is cited in the policy report Fowler, D et al., (2013) Research findings in support of the EU Air Quality Review Luxembourg, Publications Office of the European Union, 108pp.

This paper was highlighted in the European Comission DG Environment News Alert Service, Science for Environment Policy, Issue 255, 29th September 2011.

Data processesed in this study also appeared in the following book: Chandler, R. and Scott, M. (2011).Statistical methods for trend detection and analysis in the environmental sciences. pp.388. John Wiley & Sons. ISBN: 978-0-470-01543-8.
